One of the most simple tips is if something’s not coming, Â go for a walk. Â Get out of your space, Â go to an art gallery. go to the park, Â go to somewhere that you love, Â bring a book with you, like a notebook. Pay attention to what’s going on, people’s conversations, Â what you see in terms of art, how it makes you feel.
if lyrics start to come to you. I  mean, if, if melody starts to come to you, then record it. Just record it. Because the worst thing is when you go, oh my God, that was such a great melody for this life of me. I cannot remember what it was.  Which often happens, particularly when you’re dreaming. I think.  So, one thing is like limitations. Like  putting limitations on what you’re allowed to do with your songwriting can actually lead you to getting some really interesting ideas.
So for example, just limit yourself to just the, I’m just gonna write on piano. I’m not gonna even think about anything else. And then I’m gonna think I’m gonna have three chords. Three chords is all I’m allowed to have, right? And I’m gonna write a, a verse, verse, a pre or a chorus. Â It feels restricting. But what you start realizing is you start having to think about these things in a different way. How can I use this in a different way?
Can I just do a verse, which is just one chord,  and then write the top line and make that the really exciting thing. And then when I get to the chorus, I’ve got three chords I can use, and then it’s gonna really feel like it’s lifting and going somewhere.  You don’t have to keep these  songs. They can change. But I’m saying to get the initial idea going, sometimes that could be super helpful.
