Showing up authentically on social media

Pro Songwriting Masterclass | Jo Valentina-Sinclair (Create Your Own Story | Life & Business Mindset Coach and NLP Practitioner )

One of the things that I wanted to start with was actually, you know, the, the importance of  really, showing up authentically in today’s digital landscape.  So  there are so many  conversations around this at the moment,  and as you know, there are, you know, quite a few high profile, accounts that are in the spotlight at the moment.

I don’t think I need to, to name any names, but I will. So if we’re thinking about, some of the celebrities, music celebrities that  are  under scrutiny, maybe from the past, maybe actually, you know, from the present as well, that actually feeds into this whole conversation about, you know,  trust, right? And building credibility. And that’s one of the, the first things that’s really important in today’s landscape.

It’s about, building the foundation of relationships  and  us being in this world where, you know, we’re bombarded with, advertisements. We have so many different forms of social media that we can use. there are so many polished images out there and, you know, versions of people’s lives that seem really polished.

That authenticity I think is coming up as something that people want even more. and it’s, it’s start sta it’s standing out because people want trust.  So it’s  really, really important to be genuine because that helps you to build a solid foundation with your audience. Yeah. You are bringing into your world.  And so when we think about artists such as, Lewis Capaldi for example,  he has been known for openly discussing his struggles, with mental health.

And, you know, we also have, people like  Professor Green who was openly talking about his mental health  and has been, sharing that on his social media and, you know, doing various campaigns around it.

So  it has been useful for them to  be authentic because it’s helped them to build a stronger, brand, trusting relationships and actually to, you know, build a better relationship with their followers.  So  authenticity is also important for, as we say, building those meaningful connections.  And it helps to foster deeper, more meaningful connections.

Yeah. So when you are true to yourself, your audience is gonna feel a genuine connection and that’s gonna lead to more loyal followers. Not just followers, but loyal followers. Right?  So the  third point there is  it helps you to, you  know, differentiate yourself in, differentiate yourself in a crowded market.  And  online, the online space is incredibly, busy Right now.

It’s, it’s, it’s, it’s saturated. And it’s not that there’s not enough space for everyone, ’cause we always want to be in the abundance mindset,  but authenticity helps you to stand out and helps you to share your unique voice  Yeah. And your perspective.  And it helps you to be more memorable and distinct from others.  So for example, Billie Eilish, she has a unique style and candid posts about her experiences, and they deeply resonate with her audience and it kind of sets her apart in the music industry.

And she’s done tremendously well on, on TikTok.  So  when we have these factors that I’ve mentioned, building trust, creating connection, standing out in a differentiated market, it helps to  enhance engagement. So authentic content, it really does,  it helps to build higher engagement rates, right?

So people are more likely to like, comment,  follow your account or come back to, you know, find out what’s happening in your account and share content that feels real, or when you are sharing content that feels real and when it feels relatable, right? So, if we think about Pink, who I’ve mentioned before, you take a look at her social media account, she shares a lot of stuff about her family.

She shares a lot of stuff about her, her partner  and, her, her children and her own experiences. I mean, she’s been in the business for quite a while, so we kind of feel like, you know, we’ve followed her journey, we’ve seen what she’s been doing,  and, she’s been open about sharing about stuff and, you know, she’s quite outspoken anyway.

So  it’s really important to be able to  humanise the brand, right? And actually show that there is a,  a person, a spirit, a soul behind there instead of just, hiding behind the brand. And that’s what can feed into long-term success. And so when people can see that, you know, you are actually there to, build the relationships and keep that connection, then people are likely to stick around for a lot longer.

And actually, you know, once you’ve got all of those things that are in the mix, it becomes, a positive impact for people. It actually becomes, a way that your authenticity can inspire and positively impact your, audience as well by sharing your true self.
